Privacy Policy
cinemarium app · effective September 28, 2026
This policy explains what data the cinemarium app collects, why, where it is stored and how to delete it. We collect only what the app needs to work. There are no ads and no tracking, and we never sell your data or share it with advertising networks.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Dmitry Nikolaevich Shelopugin, a self-employed individual registered in Russia, taxpayer ID (INN) 143522342377.
For any question about your data, email cinemariumapp@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Account data. You can sign in only with Apple, Google or Yandex ID. We store which service you used and your account identifier in that service. We don't ask the sign-in service for your email, name, photo or any other profile data, and we don't store them. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a technical token so we can revoke the app's access when you delete your account.
Profile. The name you entered in the app, if any (only you can see it), and the avatar you picked from the app's own set of pictures.
Your collection and activity in the app. Your swipes, your “Want to watch” and “Watched” lists, the dates you added and watched films, your ratings, notes, your own film lists, favorite genres and feed settings.
Notifications. If you allow push notifications, we store the device token Apple gives us, so we can send you the digest, along with the language of your device and when the digest was last sent.
Messages to us. If you write to us via “Contact us”, we store the message, the app version and your device model, so we can reply and look into the problem. A copy of the message is sent to our mailbox.
Server logs. For every request the server records the IP address, the time and the requested address. We need this to fend off abuse and to fix bugs. Logs are kept for a limited time and are overwritten automatically.
What stays on your device and never reaches us: search history, reminder settings, cached posters, and the crash and performance reports the system collects (MetricKit).
We don't collect your email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos or payment details.
3. Why we need this data
- To let you sign in and keep your collection in sync across devices.
- To pick films for your feed based on your swipes and skip the ones you've already rated.
- To send reminders and the digest, if you turned them on.
- To protect the service from abuse and fix bugs.
Everyone's swipes also feed shared counters on each film, such as the number of likes. These counters are anonymous: they don't show who rated a film.
4. Legal basis
We process your data based on the consent you give when you sign in, and to provide the app to you under its terms of use. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or emailing us.
5. Who we share data with
Only with services the app can't work without, and only as much as each of them needs:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and delivery of push notifications.
- Google — Sign in with Google, if you chose it, and Gmail, where copies of your “Contact us” messages arrive.
- Yandex — sign-in with Yandex ID, if you chose it.
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server and the database.
If you share a link to one of your film lists, anyone with the link can see its name and the films in it. They can't see the rest of your collection.
Trailers on film pages play in an embedded YouTube player. It loads only when you tap a trailer. From that moment YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and device data and handles them under its own privacy policy. By watching a trailer you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. We find trailer links using YouTube API Services and store only the video ID. We don't receive anything about you from YouTube.
We disclose data to public authorities only where the law explicitly requires it.
6. Where your data is stored
The server and the database are in Germany, in the Telehouse data center in Frankfurt. Data travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
7. How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your data is erased immediately and completely. The exceptions are server logs, which disappear on their own as they are overwritten, and copies of your messages in our mailbox, which we'll delete on request.
8. How to delete your account and data
In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your account, profile, collection, ratings, notes, film lists, messages to us and notification tokens. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.
If you can't delete it in the app, email cinemariumapp@gmail.com with the account ID shown in Profile → Settings, and we'll delete everything manually.
9. Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw your consent. Just email us at the address above and include your account ID. We'll reply within 10 business days. If you believe we're violating your rights, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
10. Children
The app is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you learn that a child has created an account, let us know and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We'll let you know in the app about any significant changes.
